Your Ultimate Guide to Jingle & Mingle in Downtown Casper

I’m just going to come out and say it: Small Business Saturday is the BEST day in downtown Casper. Not only is it a perfect excuse to shop local and show our downtown some love — like we need one — but there’s also a ton of other ah-mazing, Christmas-y, straight-out-of-a-Hallmark-movie events happening this year.

This Saturday, November 30, is the first-ever downtown Casper Jingle & Mingle. A cooperative effort of Shop Downtown Casper, the Downtown Casper Christmas Parade, David Street Station and the Nicolaysen Art Museum, the Jingle & Mingle is a great way to kick off the season in downtown.

And because this idea is something that really makes our local-loving hearts sing, we wanted to make sure you don’t miss a single thing happening this Saturday.

Shop Downtown Casper

I’m a firm believer that you can buy every single gift on your list right here in Casper. And Small Business Saturday is the perfect place to start. On this day, Casper retailers will be offering deals and special offers to show their gratitude for our community shopping small. Follow this event on Facebook to see what’s in the works!

When: All day! Shops open at their normal times. Pro tip: streets will close at 4 p.m. to prepare for the parade, but the shops stay open!
Where: All throughout downtown Casper (and beyond!)
How Much $: Window shopping is free! But any money you do spend is helping the local economy, so don’t feel guilty for going on a spree! 😉

Skate at David Street Station

The David Street Station Ice Rink officially opens Friday, November 29, so on Saturday, be one of the first people to skate on the fresh ice in the shadow of the new community Christmas Tree. If you’re a fan of feeling like you’re in a picture-perfect snow globe, this is a must-do.

When: The rink opens at noon and is open through the parade until 9 p.m.
Where: David Street Station
How Much $: To skate – Adults: $5; Youth (12 and under): $4; Toddlers (4 and under): $3; Ice Skate Rentals – $3

Lighting of the Community Christmas Tree

If you think the ice rink is amazing in the day, just wait until it reaches full-Hallmark movie levels when the Christmas tree in the center is lit with a community countdown.

When: The lights go on at 6 p.m., but get there early to get a good spot!
Where: David Street Station

Downtown Casper Christmas Parade

You know we love a good parade around here, and the downtown Christmas parade is one of the best there is. After the lights go on at the Community Christmas Tree, make your way to your spot for the parade. This parade has all of the usual suspects: candy, twinkling lights, free hot chocolate stations and, of course, Santa.

When: The parade starts at 6:45 and begins near David Street Station
Where: Downtown (see map below)
How Much $: Free

Saint Nick at the NIC

Speaking of Santa… this year, the Nicolaysen Art Museum is hosting the coolest. after party. ever. When the parade comes to a close, meet Santa at the NIC. There will be opportunities to take a selfie with the big guy himself and a chance to write a letter to Santa in the Discovery Center. Treats include holiday drinks for kids, adult drinks including hot cocoa, cider, and malt beverages, cookies and candy canes. And if that wasn’t enough, there will be an award ceremony where the winning float of the parade will be crowned!

When: Doors open at 7 p.m.
Where: The Nicolaysen Art Museum
How Much $: Free to enter

This probably goes without saying…. but if you need me this Saturday, you know where to find me. Happy Holidays, locals!
