‘Tis the Season to Shop Local. Meet the 2018 Casper Gift Guide.

It’s no secret that I love all things local. It’s also no secret that I love all things Christmas.  Finding the perfect, unique gift for everyone on my list is a challenge I get excited for every single year.

And choosing to buy local can have a serious impact on our little town. When you shop local, you’re not only boosting our economy, you’re also helping out your neighbors and ensuring that awesome businesses can succeed and thrive in our community, enabling  local shops, restaurants and retailers to continue killing it right here in Casper.

And that’s pretty damn powerful.

So get off of Amazon and ditch the big box store. To help you support your fellow Casperites and still buy gifts that will thrill your friends and family, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite Casper-made gifts and some of the best places to shop local this Christmas (and always).

  1. WyoMade
It’s honestly hard to go into WyoMade and not walk out with one of everything. Everything in the store is made by Wyoming makers and creators. My local-loving heart might just explode.
Where to buy:  116 E 2nd St or online.

PS. WyoMade is also stocked up with our 5150′ Local Stickers and they are FREE. Hello, stocking-stuffers.

  2. Anchor Designs
Leather + jewelry = a Wyoming gifting home run. Anchor Designs crafts stunning leather earrings and sells them around town and on Instagram.
Where to buy: @AnchorDesignsWy on Instagram, at Spruce Beauty Bar, WyoMade or the Hat 6 Travel Plaza
  3. Annual Passes to Casper’s Museums
What do you get for the kid who literally can’t even fit another knickknack in their toy box? A membership at the Science Zone! Or what about your artsy sister? A year of admission to the Nicolaysen Art Museum! It seems like Casper has a museum for just about everything, which means they might just have something for your impossible to buy for friends.
  4. Grant Street Grocery
I’m only kind of kidding when I say that Grant Street Grocery is my happy place. (I’m not kidding at all… ) This is the ultimate place to shop for your foodie friends and family. But don’t let the “grocery” in their name fool you. Grant Street is stocked with amazing gift ideas from cards, treats, books and all kinds of gifts.
    Where to buy: 815 S. Grant Avegrant-street-1.jpg
  5. Wyoming Gun Company Memberships & Classes
Not only is Wyoming Gun Company a seriously impressive facility, it is Casper’s only indoor shooting range. With memberships, training, educational tools and competitions, there’s something for every marksman (or woman) on your list.
Where to buy: Memberships must be purchased in person at 580 Landmark Drive
  6. Backwards Distilling Company
A true gem in Wyoming, we are lucky to have Backwards Distilling in Casper. For the cocktail connoisseur on your list, a bottle Backwards or some branded drink wear is a no-brainer.
Where to buy: Backwards Distilling Company’s tasting room at 158 Progress Circle in Mills, liquor stores around Casper or online.
  7. Show Tickets
Tickets make a great gift and Casper has a lot of pretty amazing live performances.  Score seats at awesome shows at the Casper Events Center in 2019 like Broadway in Casper, Gary Allen or REO Speedwagon. Gift someone a date night at the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, Stage III Theater or Opera Wyoming performance.
  8. Fly Fishing Services
We’re lucky to have some of the world’s best fly fishing right here in our backyard. Which means we also have some of the best guides around. Get the angler (or want to be angler) on your list a day on the water with some of the best in the business to learn the ropes, refine their skills or to simply spend a beautiful day on the North Platte.
Where to buy: Peruse our local fishing guides here.
  9. Donells Candies
This local candy shop has been making candy in downtown Casper for over 60 years. And they’ve got the art of making cravable candy down to a science. Their most popular creation is their Pecan Pixies (also known as turtles) but my favorite are their red wine chocolate truffles. *drooling*
Where to buy: Their storefront in the Artium Plaza at 201 East 2nd Street or online.
  10. 307 Metal Works
There’s nothing more Wyoming than stunning steel forged into the shape of Steamboat, Wyoming’s bucking horse and rider. Or steel forged into anything, really. And luckily, 307 Metal Works can make just about anything out of metal.
Where to buy: 307 Metal Works is currently moving into their new location on David Street (across from David Street Station), but they are still open for business this holiday season. Peruse their Facebook to shop, call 307-333-5840 or stop by their popup this weekend (December 8th) at Frontier Brewing Company.  And while you’re there, grab a pint for you and a pint for a brew-loving friend with a Frontier Brewing gift card.
  11. Local Restaurant + Coffee Shop Gift Cards
Gift cards are the unsung hero of Christmas, my friends. With a little love behind them, gift cards are the perfect thing to give someone who is truly impossible to buy for. (We’re looking at you, dads of the world.) Send your parents on a date to Silver Fox, buy your coworkers coffee at La Barista, set a manicure date with your best friend at Spruce Beauty Bar or give your nephew a movie pass to the local theaters.
  12. Hogadon or Nordic Ski pass
Outdoor lover on your list? Look no further than atop Casper Mountain. Gift a Nordic trails season pass for snowshoeing or fat biking or a lift ticket, season passes or lessons at Hogadon Basin Ski Area.
Where to buy: Buy a Nordic trails pass and locate vendors here and grab Hogadon passes here.

Go forth and shop local, Casper!
